Andy Kahrs’ genre-bending sound comes into full focus on Somewhere New, his latest LP that seamlessly weaves between blues, soul, folk, and vintage country. Fueled by heartfelt vocals and a unique slide guitar style, Somewhere New captures the spirit of American roots music while carving out a sound distinctly Kahrs’ own.
Included on Music Mecca's "Top 10 2023 Nashville Indie Releases" and featured on Spotify’s ‘Got Blues’ and ‘Best Blues of 2022’ editorial playlists, Andy Kahrs’ distinct blend of roots genres brings his southern roots and storytelling sensibilities to life. His powerful, authentic tone calls to mind a range of influences from Otis Redding to Randy Travis, all while standing out as completely unique.
Kahrs has worked with grammy-winning producers Zach Allen (Keb’ Mo’, Kingfish) and Bobby Holland (Maggie Rose, ZZ Ward), and in addition to touring his original music, performs across the US as the lead singer and guitarist in ‘Rhinestone: The Songs of Glen Campbell’, paying tribute to one of country music’s brightest stars. Kahrs has opened for country music legend Lacy J. Dalton, and shared stages with grammy-award winning violinist Mads Tolling.
Andy explores his love for sci-fi and nerd culture on Transmissions, a series of blues renditions of iconic pieces from cinema and videogames. The project launched with his version of John Williams’ ‘Binary Sunset’ in 2025 to over 300k views across social media and streaming platforms, and will continue with a full record releasing across 2026.
With thousands of monthly Spotify listeners and a busy touring schedule, Kahrs has made a name for himself as one to watch in the Americana scene. Somewhere New and Transmissions find him at a creative pinnacle that pushes his sound in bold new directions.
